Sizewell and our fragile Coast

Watch our explainer video and take action:

There are three main ways we can Stop Sizewell C

  1. Money. If no one will invest, it cannot go ahead. You can help by writing to pension funds or other potential investors.
  2. Planning. If the government has doubts about EDF’s flood risk assessment or coastal defences, ministers may not be able to justify giving Sizewell C planning consent. Before 20 July 2022 you can write to the Planning Inspectorate to express your opposition to the project. Email sizewellc@planninginspectorate.gov.uk. Although the planning examination is over, your messages will be passed to the minister who have to make the planning decision.
  3. Politics. Even if Sizewell C gets granted planning consent, it is still some months until a Final Investment Decision is made. If Sizewell C costs too much, Ministers will listen. Tell the Secretary of State that you are concerned Sizewell C will not be sufficiently protected from sea level rise without a sea wall around the whole site or a higher platform. Write to The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP: enquiries@beis.gov.ukDear Secretary of State.
